About Thrift Finance

Millions of people in Africa are unable to control their financial health due to financial exclusion, unfriendly legacy banking policies and products, bad government policies and high inflation rates. Thrift Finance - Take back the control of your finances through a decentralized, trustless RealFi and DeFi ecosystem. Thrift Finance is a suite of products for decentralized, trustless, smart-contract powered thrift savings, micro finance, RealFi and DeFi systems, governed, maintained and upgraded by Thrift token holders to create a more accessible and efficient financial system for Africa. A pioneer startup in IOHK’s and iceaddis managed Ariob incubator program.

Our team is committed to reinventing traditional and legacy banking in Africa through a specialized set of blockchain features, that will enable even newbies to access the full power of Web3 and blockchain without being exposed to its complexities. Our MVP Thrift Wallet enables users to do everything a wallet does with additional functionalities. It is the starting point for Thrift Finance's expansive and feature packed roadmap. Savings, saving targets, basic finance analytics, as well as the ability to send tokens to multiple users simultaneously would all be supported. Thrift Finance is also building a sophisticated wallet that will integrate Atala prism ID, decentralized social connect system for its DeFi credit union feature (Esusu), group and individual saving, lending and borrowing through Thrift protocol and integration of third party lending protocols. Through our DeFi credit union via crowd-staking feature, small and African focused SPOs will be supported.

Thrift wallet token would be used for Governance, also it would be used in Thrift protocol for lending, borrowing and staking, Debit card transactions, P2P moderator's incentivizing. In addition to industry-leading APYs, we would integrate a DEX, fiat on & off ramps, and an NFT rewards system for Thrift savings. Smart saving assistant, financial analytics, metadata support, micro-transactions, and peer-to-peer transactions are also expected. We are building on Cardano, accessibility is also important to us, so we are building a cross-chain wallet, to provide interoperability. With our core users (Africans) in mind, we are building an easy to use wallet, incorporating features like fingerprint unlock, simple UI screens that do not limit the full power of our features.

The word "Thrift" is derived from the flower; Armeria maritima (Sea Thrift) which signifies prudent money management. Also, it signifies inclusiveness. The logo symbolizes Armeria maritima, family, savings, money, and a bright future.
